IPTV Kodi Addon — PVR IPTV Simple Client Setup for TrexTV

Kodi has supported IPTV natively for years through the official PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on. It is free, runs everywhere Kodi runs, and works perfectly with TrexTV.

  • ✓ M3U URL and EPG URL — both supported
  • ✓ Full Kodi skins and EPG views
  • ✓ Excellent for HTPC setups and Raspberry Pi

Setup steps

  1. 1
Open Kodi and go to Add-ons

    Kodi main menu → Add-ons → My Add-ons → PVR clients.

  2. 2
    Enable PVR IPTV Simple Client

Select "PVR IPTV Simple Client" → Enable. (It is bundled with Kodi by default since Kodi 19.)

  3. 3
    Configure M3U playlist

Open the add-on → Configure → General → M3U Play List URL → paste the TrexTV M3U URL we sent.

  4. 4
    Configure EPG

Configure → EPG Settings → XMLTV URL → paste the EPG URL we sent. Set "EPG provider" to "Remote URL".

  5. 5
    Restart Kodi

Close and reopen Kodi. The TV section now shows your TrexTV live channels with EPG. Channel groups and favourites are available via the Kodi PVR menu.

Why use Kodi for IPTV

Kodi is open source, free, and runs on basically anything — including a Raspberry Pi 4 with LibreELEC. If you've built a home theatre PC or you're running Kodi on an existing Linux/Windows box, the PVR IPTV Simple Client is the cleanest way to add TrexTV without changing your setup.

Pros and cons vs Smarters / TiviMate

Kodi gives you total control: custom skins, multi-source playback, integration with media libraries, and add-on extensibility. The trade-off is that initial setup is a bit more technical than tapping "Login" in Smarters Pro. For a dedicated streaming stick, Smarters Pro is faster. For an HTPC, Kodi is hard to beat.

Kodi on Firestick

Kodi can be sideloaded onto a Firestick using the same Downloader method as Smarters Pro. See the Firestick page for sideloading instructions, then follow the steps above to add TrexTV inside Kodi.

Kodi on Raspberry Pi

LibreELEC or Kodi on Raspbian on a Raspberry Pi 4 makes a great low-power IPTV box. Use Ethernet for the most reliable playback. 4K streams need a Pi 4 (4 GB or 8 GB) and a fast SD card.

FAQ

Kodi IPTV — FAQ

Do I need a third-party Kodi build to use TrexTV?

No. The official PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on is bundled with stock Kodi from Kodi 19 onwards. No third-party builds, no banned repositories, no piracy add-ons. Just the official add-on plus your TrexTV M3U URL.

Does Kodi support EPG?

Yes — paste the XMLTV EPG URL we send into the add-on settings. The full Kodi EPG, channel logos, and TV guide work natively.

Will it work on Raspberry Pi?

Yes — Kodi runs well on Raspberry Pi 4 with LibreELEC. HD is fine on any Pi 4; 4K needs a Pi 4 (4GB+) and a fast SD card or USB SSD.

Do I need special hardware to use TrexTV?

No. If you already own a Firestick, Smart TV, Android box, Apple TV, Roku, or a computer, you can install a supported IPTV player and start watching.

Which IPTV player do you recommend?

IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate are the most popular options. They work on most platforms, look great, and support both M3U and Xtream Codes login.

Can I use TrexTV on multiple devices?

Each subscription includes one connection by default. You can be logged in on several devices but only stream from one at a time. Extra connections can be added on request.
